What are bad beat Jackpots?
A bad beat jackpot is a cash bonus reward that is paid to poker players who suffer horrible bad beats but qualify for the jackpot prize. Losing has never felt so good!

What usually qualifies as a bad beat jackpot?
Most online poker sites offering bad beat jackpots have similar rules. Here are the two common rules among them:

• The losing hand must be 4 of a Kind 8s or better
• Both players’ hole cards must be used

How is the Bad Beat Jackpot Paid out?
Each sites differs somewhat, but here is a common breakdown of the payout. Note that some of the jackpot remains for the next one:

• 25% rolls over to the next jackpot
• 10% goes to the house

The remaining 65% is divided up as follows:

• 50% goes to the loser of the hand
• 25% goes to the winner of the hand
• The rest of the money is divided up among every single person at the table

• The Bad Beat Jackpot was hit on UB on February 28 2011 for a record $1,048,383.  The loser of the hand, ODESSA99, won $340,000 and the winner won $170,813
• The Carbon Poker Bad Beat Jackpot (Merge Gaming Network bad beat jackpot) hit twice within a 2 week time frame.  First on Aug 31 2010, the loser took home $75k+ for his bad beat, and on Sep 10 the bad beat winner took home $38k from getting quads cracked.  On november 12, the bad beat jackpot was hit again, and this time the loser took home over $150,000.  Most recently the BBJ hit on Carbon Poker on Jan 20, 2011. Total Payout was $324,000. Out of any site, the bad beat jackpot appears to go off the most on Carbon Poker.
• The Party Poker Bad Beat Jackpot was hit on February 27, 2011.  The loser hardbiglong won it for $479,101
